  • Read Everything: You will receive emails from the Recruiter, Constant Contact, and NEOGOV. Read ALL of them thoroughly.
  • Take Action: Complete actionable items (e.g., surveys, forms) immediately.
  • Reply Protocol: Direct responses to the Recruiter or at least CC them.
  • Surveys: 100% participation is expected on surveys (like the Practice PAT survey), even if you are declining/not attending.

  • Link Issues? If the site won't load, send a screenshot/recording of the error to the Recruiter immediately.
  • Missing Info? Use "N/A" only if truly not applicable. Do not use it just to avoid finding info.
  • Blank Sections? Use "Complete all questions" box or "Upload Files Here" to explain why a section is blank (e.g., waiting on return calls).
  • Browser: USE CHROME. (Safari not supported).
  • Save Often: Use "Save as Draft" frequently.

Physical Ability Test (PAT) Guide

Event 1
4:00 Max

Stair Climb

The applicant shall climb a 3-story stairwell (to the 4th floor landing) for a total of three times.

Equipment: 50 lb. Vest + Two 12.5 lb. Shoulder Weights
NOTE: Up to 1 minute 30 second rest max before starting Events 2-6. Remaining time from Event 1 does NOT carry over.

Continuous Course (Events 2-6)

Applicant wears 50 lb. vest only. Time runs continuously between events.

Event 2: Ladder Raise & Extension

Approach top rung of 24ft extension ladder, lift unhinged end, walk it up hand-over-hand until stationary against wall. Immediately proceed to secured 24ft ladder, extend fly section to top and back down using halyard in controlled manner.

Event 3: Equipment Carry

Remove two saws from cabinet, place on ground. Pick up both saws, carry them 75ft, turn 180 degrees, walk back to starting point, and return saws to cabinet.

Event 4: 1-3/4” Hose Drag

Grasp nozzle of folded hose line, advance in straight line. Turn around, drop to one knee, and pull charged hose line until 50ft of hose is within the marked area.

Event 5: Sledge Swing

Repeatedly swing sledgehammer in chopping motion at weighted object using enough force to move object approximately 5 feet.

Event 6: Rescue

Grasp approx. 165lb mannequin, drag it 35ft to pre-positioned drum, make 180 degree turn around drum, and return 35ft to finish line.
